View from rooftop pool at hotel (Petronas towers at the back)
We visited the Petronas towers and the random exciting park surrounding them...
We then moved on to the islands of Langkawi. Below is the view from the plane.
Here we stayed in a fantastic rainforest chalet (below).
The resort was situated in the rainforest as well as on the nearby beach. There were five restaurants and here is the view from one of the nicest ones (corny image, we know).
Beach with rainforest mountains in the background.
We took a cable car to get a better view of the surrounding area (and met some mosquitos on the way).
We could apparently see Thailand from the top on a nice day. It was difficult to tell what was what though to be honest. All very pretty though.
Obviously we deserved an ice cream after the cable car trip..
More beach time (we had a lot of time on our hands).
In the evenings we spent most of our time playing table tennis and darts and quickly developed a championship series. Below is a picture of Christine´s biggest darts victory. Unfortunately she only ever finished second in the table tennis.
Sunrises and sunsets (mainly sunsets!)
On one of the nights we opted for the resort buffet.. which included the below selection of cakes (yes, Christine tried every one of them!).
We later found someone who had a buffet of their own..
And now on to animal bingo. Being in the rainforest and the beach, we saw plenty of interesting animals.
Beach crabs and hermit crab coming out of their sand homes at night |
The shell of a little bugger that kept people awake with its high pitched mating call |
Hornbill bird |
Big lizard across the path from our chalet |
A dusky leaf monkey having lunch |
"I know, I couldn´t believe it either" |
Macaque: "Oh no, I didn´t realise the playground was for kids!" (these monkeys were actually playing on the see-saw and slide!) |
Black giant squirrel who often joined us near our balcony for lunch.. |
As did the plantain squirrels.. he liked the coconuts |
Spot the flying lemur outside our cabin.. |
Can you see him better now? |
There he is! Very very cute! |
This is a different one we saw as it glided over our heads (literally 1m above us) during dinner! |
